Statutory declaration

A Statutory Declaration is a written statement of fact, accompanied by a solemn declaration of the author that it is true. Unlike affidavits, statutory declarations are not usually used in court. But they are required in numerous business and legal transactions outside of court.

Much of Australian law is dominated by the State in which the law was enacted. There are different requirements for statutory declarations for each State and the Commonwealth.
